The presentation of the exhibition project «Books as a gift to the President» with the participation of the director of the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin Tatyana Adamyan and the chief specialist of the sector of ideological work and youth affairs of the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, Kirill Filiptsov, took place on November 5.
The exhibition presents 50 publications from the personal collection of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, donated to the Presidential Library.
The display cases in the foyer on the 3rd floor house books on the topics of world history and modern times, fiction and art, economics and science, sports and tourism, as well as the Great Patriotic War and genocide.
The depths of the spiritual heritage are revealed in the uniquely published collections «The Russian Museum: from the Icon to the Present», «280 Years of the St. Petersburg Diocese, 1742–2022», «The Chronicle of the Gomel Diocese», «The Gospel in the Colors of Palekh», «The Path of Active Service. Archbishop of Brest and Kobrin John», «The History of the Revival of the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent», «Alexander Nevsky: Warrior, Sovereign, Saint». Pearls of world art from painting to architecture are illustrated in the photo albums «Pavlovsk. Art Collections», «Baroque, the Soul of Brazil», «Russian Landscape Painting», «Peterhof Remembering Peter», «A Story about Chinese», «Country Imperial Residences: Weekdays, Holidays, Tragedies». In the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, the elite reissue of the famous book of memoirs (memories and reflections) of the legendary Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov, the photo chronicle «Piskarevsky Memorial», «In Memoriam. Pavlovsk», «Railwaymen in the Great Patriotic War» sound relevant.
The value and uniqueness of many publications is given by the autographs and dedications left in them. Most of the exhibited copies are made in accordance with the advanced examples of artistic, printing and design design of the book. Through them, one can trace the broad international context of the official and public diplomacy of sovereign independent Belarus.
The exhibition is open to readers of the regional library until November 25.
