Department of storage of main collection
The main library storage is located on the ground floor and occupies an area of more than 800 m2.
The department's fund consists of various types of documents: books, magazines, newspapers, abstracts of dissertations, maps, technical regulatory legal acts, art publications, audiovisual and electronic documents. The collection of regional newspapers extends chronologically to 1944.
Main areas of work:
– organization of work to preserve the fund;
– selection and exclusion from the department's collection of outdated, doublet, dilapidated documents as part of the work on the retrospective of book collections and catalogues;
– maintaining a topographic catalog for the library's collections;
– organization of work to check the auxiliary funds of the library's structural divisions;
– maintaining the «Catalogue of Subscription Publications» database presented on the library website;
– promptly satisfy users' information requests with the help of the department's document collection through a system of reading rooms and interlibrary loan;
– implementation of binding works;
– providing methodological assistance on the department's profile to libraries in the Vitebsk region.
