On December 14, the library held the next session of free courses on the history of Vitebsk on the topic «In the footsteps of the negatives by Abram Makovsky».
Svetlana Myasoedova, a local historian and professional archivist, talked about the life and work of the famous Vitebsk photographer and artist of the late XIX – early XX centuries.
The Vitebsk regional archive has preserved a number of documents about the family and professional activities of Abram Makovsky. On the basis of archival materials one can trace his biography, the history of his family, as well as learn interesting facts about the work of the photo studio in the late XIX – early XX centuries.
Svetlana Myasoedova mentioned an interesting fact from Makovsky's biography: in the 1920s he worked in criminal investigation department, specializing in a judicial photography. Thanks to his professionalism, several criminal cases were solved in Vitebsk.
