IX scientific and practical conference «Vitebsk Region», devoted to the 85th anniversary of the formation of Vitebsk region

IX scientific and practical conference «Vitebsk Region», devoted to the 85th anniversary of the formation of Vitebsk region took place on November 23 in the Vitebsk Regional Library.
Over 70 historians, archaeologists, archivists, teachers, workers of museums and libraries and local historians shared the results of their research in a full-time format.
The organizers of the conference were Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Vitebsk Regional Local Lore Museum.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies Vladimir Belevich, chief specialist of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Denis Yurchak, director of the Vitebsk Regional Library Tatyana Adamyan, director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vadim Lakizo (video greeting) and Deputy Director of Vitebsk Regional Local Lore Museum Oksana Isachenko addressed the participants with a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the conference.
The plenary session of the conference was opened by a video report «Education of Vitebsk Region» by Prof. of the Department of Social-Humanitarian and Legal Disciplines of the Gomel State Technical University named after P. Sukhoi, Doctor of Historical Sciences Sergey Elizarov.
The reports were made by the leading research officer of the Department of Archaeology of Primitive Society of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Shadyro and the chief specialist of the Culture Department of Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Denis Yurchak.
Head of the Department of State Records and Research Apparatus of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Photo Documents Maria Romanova talked about the audiovisual documents about Vitebsk region, which are kept in the archives' funds as well as showed a documentary tape dedicated to the liberation of the Vitebsk region and the first years of its history.
The work at the sections «Historical local lore. Vitebsk region from antiquity to 1917»,
«Historical local lore. Vitebsk region from 1918 to the present day», «Historical Local Lore. The Great Patriotic War», «Local lore in the system of humanities» was fruitful.
According to the results of the conference a collection of materials of the same name will be published.
