For several years, the Vitebsk Regional Library has been developing and promoting a unique theatrical performance format – batleika theater.
This genre seamlessly blends traditional folk performances with modern theatrical techniques, creating a unique atmosphere and resonating with audiences of all ages. During this time, the library has staged several vibrant and memorable productions.
In anticipation of the winter holidays, the regional library, together with the Vitebsk State College of Culture and Arts, presented a new Christmas performance, «The Story of a Miracle». The production was created as part of the «Living Word of Spiritual Wisdom» program, implemented jointly with the Vitebsk Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
The curriculum for the «Methodology of Working with a Creative Team» course for group AI-III-20 of the «Acting (Drama Theater and Cinema)» specialty turned into a truly original production. Under the guidance of college teacher Anastasia Adamenko, students tried their hand at being battle performers, combining the power of acting with the art of puppet manipulation.
The play premiered on December 23rd at the library. Audiences witnessed the culmination of painstaking work and creative exploration. The production combined traditional Slavic stories with the European tradition of Christmas mysteries. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ and winter holiday customs was told through the lines of Boris Pasternak's poem «The Christmas Star».
The actors created a true fairytale atmosphere that inspired good deeds and filled the audience with light and warmth. Audience participation was a special highlight: everyone was able to send their cherished dreams into the «box of miracles».
The play «The Story of a Miracle» can be seen during the winter school holidays and during Christmas festivities. We invite everyone to enjoy this vibrant theatrical performance and share in the holiday spirit!
