On May 25, the exhibition «A man in love with the sky», dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the deputy commander of the USSR Airborne Troops, Lieutenant General, PhD in history and a native of Vitebsk I. Lisov took place in the library.
His name is closely associated with the formation and development of airborne troops; he stood at the origins of creation of a fundamentally new system of combat training of paratroopers. He was the initiator of the blue berets and striped vest which became a new uniform for paratroopers in 1968. He was the organizer of development and introduction of mass parachute sport and orienteering in the Soviet Union. Ivan Lisov led the staff of the military-sports game «Zarnitsa» for a long time. He was the chief consultant of the Central Headquarters of the All-Union Youth Campaign to the places of revolutionary, military and labor glory.
The exhibition devoted to the famous fellow countryman contains books by Ivan Lisov and materials from encyclopedic editions, collections and periodicals about him as well as the information about airborne troops and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
The Head of Local Lore Department Larisa Rogacheva told the participants of the event about the childhood and adolescent years of Ivan Lisov, his development as a paratrooper, a military figure, one of the most active tutors of young people. The grandson of Ivan Lisov Igor Lyapunov also spoke at the opening of the exhibition.
