Grand opening of the Spiritual Center in the library

On January, 12 a solemn opening of Spiritual Center took place in the library.

A special event began with a prayer meeting for the righteous deeds, conducted by the clergy of Vitebsk Holy Annunciation Temple archpriest Igor Mashkei.

The chief of the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Piotr Podgursky, who participated in the solemn opening of the center, noticed that this event will take an important place in the formation and development of the spiritual culture of the city.

Welcoming speech of Archbishop Dimitriy of Vitebsk and Orsha was read by Archpriest, the Chairman of the Department of Education and catechesis of the Vitebsk Diocese Andrei Smolsky.

The nun of the Spaso-Euphrosyne women's Orthodox monastery in Polotsk Iustina, and Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko, the Chairman of the Vitebsk regional branch of the Writers' Union of Belarus, congratulated the audience on this special event.

The spiritual and educational center received Orthodox books and printed products of St. Euphrosyne Monastery.

Chants performed by the choir of the Holy Protection Cathedral were presented at the event. The staff of the library prepared a book exhibition «A heritage was left to us».

Spiritual and educational center will promote the popularization of Orthodox literature and will become an effective platform for the implementation of cultural, educational and spiritual projects.
