To the 90th anniversary of Vitebsk Regional Library
In the framework of the mini-project «90 Years with Friends...», timed to the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. I. Lenin, in the sector of foreign literature, from the end of December 2018 to January 10, 2019 the cycles of loud readings of foreign literature «Reading Together» were held.
In the course of the events, the adapted books of the «Young Readers' Club» and «Easy Reading in English» series were read: «The Witch of Blackbird Pond» by E. G. Speare, «The Picture of Dorian Gray» by O. Wilde, «Tender Is the Night» by F. S. Fitzgerald, «The Green Mile» by S. King.
For the participants of the loud readings «Reading Together», the meeting with Alana Felton, an American from Pennsylvania, turned out to be the most memorable. Alana came here to teach English at Vitebsk State University under the Fulbright Program after her graduation from Brown University. During the meeting, Alana drew the attention of the audience to the importance of reading aloud, which helps to realize the beauty of the word, to reveal the peculiarities of the speech of the characters. At the end of the meeting, the young teacher spoke about her favorite book – the novel by F. Dostoevsky «The Brothers Karamazov».
The students of the English language courses «Leon» (teacher T. Pishchulina) and the members of the «Sunday English» speaking club (manager N. Gorelysheva) took active part in the events.
