To the 70th Anniversary of Great Victory: City Library Competition of Book trailers «Book about the War» new format

On the 6th of May, in our library a solemn victory ceremony of city library competition of book trailers «Book about the War» new format, took place. The competition was conducted among the Vitebsk librarians.
We are used to select films by trailers. But trailers for books – the phenomenon is not very prevailing. But just book trailer can be remembered, sink into the soul and pushed people to read the books. It demonstrates city library competition, which started in January on Regional Library initiative.
Service departments of Regional Library, Vitebsk Urban District Library System are participating in the competition. As well as libraries of all Vitebsk universities: VSMU, VSAVM and Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov. Altogether were represented 20 book trailers – 4 individual and 16 collectives.
After careful viewing, debate and discussion, jury counting the points and defined the best. Very powerful by the nerve strain turned out book trailer of the Department of Periodical Literature (Regional Library), by the Primo Levi book-requiem «Man is it?» (the 1st place). The creators are used at their work fragments of the film «Unknown Auschwitz», materials from Wikipedia and Vivaldi's music.
Book trailer by the S. Smirnov book «Brest Fortress» got the second place executed by the Department of Legal Information (the 2nd place). The 3rd place went to the individual work of I. Halkovskaya – «War is not a woman's face» written by the S. Alekseevich (library of VSU named after P.M. Masherov).
Another 5 book trailers scored the highest points in various categories. Participant has received a diplomas and gifts.
– Book trailer – is not the most common, but very promising form of reading books promotion today, – noticed Tatiana Adamyan. At a late date, our book trailers can be devoted to the different books' genre, children's literature and spiritual genres. This direction of the future.
Book trailers will be placed on the official website, and demonstrated on the plasma screen at the foyer.
The founders and sponsors of the competition are Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin and Vitebsk Regional organization Belarusian Trade Union of Culture. Financial support rendered by the regional organization of cultural workers, branch of «Belgosstrakh» at Vitebsk region, Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, administration of «Euroopt» shop provided sweet prizes. Information support was provided by the newspaper «Vitbichi», internet portal «Gorodvitebsk.by» and Vitebsk regional TV. Artists performance of Regional Philharmonic Society and Culture Center «Vitebsk» took place on the victory ceremony.
