On the 15th of February on the site of Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin an electronic resource «Afghanistan. No Right for Oblivion», created to the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan and dedicated to the soldiers-internationalists of Vitebsk region will start operating.

To the attention of site's visitors and users of the library, the Department of Regional Literature and Bibliography presents the next exhibition from the series "The Master of Mind - a Wise, Earthy, Unforgettable", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the classic of national literature, the eminent Belarusian writer Yakub Kolas. The exhibition will be from the 2nd of February to the 2nd of March, entitled "The Encyclopedia of Folk Life: Features of Y. Kolas's Poem "New Land".

This year the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus (NCLI) celebrates its anniversary. The state institution, that makes official legal information available to every citizen, will reach the age of 20 on October 1, 2017.

On the 23th of June in the foyer of the library there was opened the anniversary exhibition of paintings of the artist, teacher, member of the Designers Union of Belarus Viktor Antonovich Sorokin. The Date of opening of the exhibition is not accidental. It coincided with the holiday - the Day of the city and is called by the author "Dedicated to Vitebsk".

On the 4th of January in Vitebsk regional library the opening of jubilee exhibition «Open Air» of the artist Grigory Fedkov took place. Grigory Fedkov was born jn the 4th of January, 1954 in village Artyukhovka, Khotimsk district, Mogilev region. In 1979, he graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute. He studied under L. Antimonov, A. Gavrushko, V. Lyakhovich, I. Stolyarov, V. Vinogradov. G. Fedkov is the author of publications, including monographs, articles in different magazines of Belarus and Russia, guidelines for the students.

Vitebsk poet David Simanovich meets his 80th anniversary with the cycle of literary evenings. The first creative meeting held in January in the music room of the Vitebsk Centre of Modern Art. And there was an evening of poetry, "Self-Portrait on the Bank of Time" on the 23th of June, in the Department of Art literature of Vitebsk Regional Library.
