Children’s Department
Children's Department is a structural unit of the library. Its activity is aimed at providing differentiated information and library services for children of preschool and primary school age, as well as quality satisfaction of their information needs with the use of traditional and new information technologies.
The children's literature department runs a computerized service and offers a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction, popular science, magazines and newspapers: the collection includes more than 70000 copies of books and 50 titles of illustrated periodicals.
The department consists of a subscription and reading room, where there is a comfortable environment for independent work with books. For the youngest readers there is a play area with soft toys, and an information corner for parents will introduce the literature for the proper development and education of the child.
THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT
promoting a culture of reading;
promotion of Belarusian and regional literature, literature on healthy lifestyles and the basics of life safety;
environmental and patriotic education.
The department provides assistance to readers in preparing for the educational process, literature search for essays, thematic selection of scripts for organizers of extracurricular activities, preparation of classroom hours.
The department works closely with the regional association for extracurricular work in the city, as well as with school and children's institutions in Vitebsk.
