As part of «The Music for All» library project, two significant events took place in December, each of which gave listeners unforgettable impressions from getting to know great works of world classics.
On December 19, the lecture by composer Alexander Ivanov was dedicated to the work of Gustav Mahler, one of the most influential composers of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. The participants of the event learned about how Symphony № 4 was created and immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the work by listening to excerpts. Alexander I. shared interesting facts about the life and work of Mahler, his unique approach to symphonic form and musical dramaturgy.
The events of «The Music for All» project in 2024 ended with a lecture on December 24. Alexander Ivanov spoke about the Violin Concerto by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The lecturer examined in detail the features of the musical dramaturgy of the work and the performance nuances of the violin part. Particular emphasis was placed on the recording performed by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Valery Gergiev, where the violin part was performed by the famous violinist Vadim Repin.
Both lectures became not only an opportunity to learn more about great composers, but also inspired the participants to further study classical music.
