Students of the advanced training courses of the Vitebsk Regional Institute for Education Development visited the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin on December 12.
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with modern trends in librarianship, strengthen cooperation between library specialists and exchange experiences.
The course participants saw how the library adapts to changes in the information society and introduces new technologies. A sightseeing tour of the library introduced the students to its structure and services.
The head of the reading room, Tatyana Pototskaya, presented the library's electronic projects. Using the example of the multimedia resource «Patron Saints of the Vitebsk Region», she demonstrated the possibilities of interactive work with text and visual materials, which helps librarians develop students' interest in the cultural history of the region.
The head of the youth department, Svetlana Yelenskaya, shared her experience of attracting children to reading, emphasizing the importance of a creative approach and updating knowledge of children's literature.
The guests were delighted by the library's mascot, the cat Foliant, who became a bright element of the program. The tour ended in the ExLibris exhibition hall, where the participants saw a collection of book rarities from the library of local historian Arkady Podlipsky.
As an information and cultural-educational center, the regional library plays an important role in the cultural and educational life of the region. The visit became an opportunity not only to gain new knowledge, but also to establish contacts with colleagues, which is important for professional growth.
