Free courses «Vitebsk: Real and Popular history of the native city»
On November 15, in the library the lecture of free courses «Vitebsk: real and popular history of the native city» was devoted to the topic «Commissar Krylov Street». The Doctor of Art history and Professor Tatyana Kotovich talked about the iconic figure for Vitebsk and the first military commissar.
The listeners of the course were surprised by the bright and tragic fate of a gifted man, sincerely passionate about his work and belief in the best future of the country.
Semyon Krylov always strived for self-education, was an excellent speaker and a good journalist. Thanks to his clear initiative a movie about the celebration of the first anniversary of the October Revolution in Vitebsk was made, an excerpt from which was shown at the lecture. The original copy of Semyon Krylov's book published in 1923 «Red True Story: Bolsheviks in Vitebsk, a collection of articles, materials and memoirs» is kept in the State Archive of the Vitebsk region.
