
A memorial evening «Journalist, writer and patriot» to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Khazansky

As a part of the series of events «Belarus Remembers» the Vitebsk Regional Library continues the meetings dedicated to our famous countrymen. On October 25 the library hosted a memorial evening «Journalist, writer and patriot» to mark the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Khazansky.
For more than forty years he worked in the newspaper «Chyrvonaya zmena». On the basis of research and real stories of fellow countrymen he wrote the books «Ask the Birches» and «ASYA» about the courage and heroism of Polotsk and Proshki underground fighters during the Great Patriotic War.
It was Vladimir Khazansky in his essay «It was near Vitebsk» for the first time talked about the Obol underground organization, which consisted of children and teenagers. Among them was Zina Portnova. The play «Young Avengers», written together with Alexander Gutkovich, was presented on the stage of the National Academic Drama Theater named after Yakub Kolas.
Years of friendship connected Vladimir Khazansky and the host of the evening, honorable veteran of the Belarusian Peace Foundation Viktor Gruznevich. Viktor Mikhailovich recalled the stages of the life path of Vladimir Khazansky. Journalist and local historian Arkady Podlipsky and TV journalist Taisia Nasonova shared their memories of the talented journalist and writer. Lubov Ufimtseva, a veteran of pedagogical labor from Polotsk, talked about the of work V. Khazansky on the documentary story «ASYA».
The relatives of the underground heroes Efrosynia Zenkova, Yevgenia Gromova, Yevgeni Bordovich, commander of the Lenin partisan brigade Nikolai Sakmarkin also attended the evening. The daughter of Evgeniya Gromova, deputy secretary of the Proshki underground Komsomol organization, Honored Teacher of the Republic of Belarus Tamara Gromova-Bezlyudova emphasized the importance of preserving memory of underground heroes and our fellow countrymen and presented a video to the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Khazansky, Evgeniya Gromova and Efrosinya Zenkova. Komsomol veteran Sergei Luzgin recalled his relatives and members of the Obol underground.
Chairman of the Vitebsk regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation Tatyana Tumanova and director of the Vitebsk State Technical College Alexander Losyakin said kind words about Vladimir Khazansky.
Soulful songs performed by Tatyana Kulakova, Sergey Luzgin, Galina Kalinina and Andrew Golub made the memorial evening more beautiful.
