VІІ International Scientific and Practical Conference «Vitebsk Region»

On November 25 in the Vitebsk regional library the VІІ International scientific-practical conference «Vitebsk region», dedicated to the Year of National Unity was held.
The conference was organized by the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Department of History and Cultural Heritage of the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov and the Vitebsk Regional Local Lore Museum. There were about 100 applications for participation in the conference from the participants from Belarus, Poland and Russia. The program of the conference included 42 reports.
The conference participants were greeted by the director of the Vitebsk Regional Library Tatyana Adamyan, chief specialist of the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, PhD in History Denis Yurchak, researcher of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus Alexander Baranovsky, head of the Department of History and Cultural Heritage of Vitebsk State University, PhD in History Anatoli Dulov, director of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Regional Studies Tatyana Starinskaya.
During the conference the chief specialist of the Department of culture of Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, candidate of historical sciences Denis Yurchak was awarded with Diploma of the Institute of History of NAS of Belarus for the fruitful scientific and organizational activities, significant contribution to the development of historical science, popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of Belarus.
Director of the Vitebsk Regional Library Tatyana Adamyan, Deputy Director of the Library Olga Komendantova and Head of the Department of Local History Literature and Bibliography Larisa Rogacheva were praised by Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for their contribution to the popularization of the cultural heritage of Belarus, the organization and holding of the International Scientific and Practical Conferences «Vitebsk Region».
Anatoly Dulov's speech was dedicated to the historical origins of the Day of National Unity. Мany interesting reports were presented at the sections «Historical local history» and «Local history in the system of the humanities». A collection of materials «Vitebsk Region» will be published on the results of the conference.
