
Open Dialogue «Belarus: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow! » dedicated to the International Mother Language Day

On February 22, an open dialogue «Belarus: yesterday, today, tomorrow! », dedicated to the International Mother Language Day took place in the library.
The event was organized by Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Vitebsk Regional Organization «Belarusian Republican Youth Union», the State Institution «Vitebsk Regional Library named after V. Lenin». The speakers of the dialogue were the chairman of Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union Vladimir Babichev, the head of the culture department of Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Pyotr Podgursky, the director of Vitebsk branch of the MITSO International University Alexander Dedinkin, the director of the Radio and Television Center «Vitebsk TV and Radio Company» Elena Pantyukhova. Tamara Krasnova-Gusachenko, the head of Vitebsk regional branch of the Union of Belarusian writers also took part in this event. The participants of the dialogue expressed their opinion on the role of the Belarusian language in society and answered questions. The youth, who took part in the VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly, shared their impressions of that event. The organizers announced a book trailer competition by works about the Great Patriotic War and works about the Motherland among young people.
The second part of the event was dedicated to the dictation session in the Belarusian language, which dictated the head of the department of local history literature and bibliography of the library Larisa Rogacheva. All interested people wrote a dictation «Unique Land» after Yanka Sipakov.
