Free Courses «Vitebsk: the real and popular history of the native town»
On December 14, a regular class of free courses «Vitebsk: the real and popular history of the native town» took place in Vitebsk Regional Library. The topic of the class was «Higher Mythology of Belarus: Tradition and Reconstruction».
Lecturer of the History Department of Belarusian State University, Candidate of Historical Sciences Dmitry Skvarchevsky presented his book «Pa slyadah bagou: narysy belaruskay mіfalogіі». In his speech, the researcher emphasized that Belarusian mythology is not less interesting than other Indo-European mythologies, but fewer sources have been preserved. Dmitry spoke about some mythological images of Belarusian folklore, comparing them with the mythological images of other peoples. The author answered numerous questions from the students of the course and presented his book to the library.
