On June 25, a presentation of the book «Vitebsk! It Has Its Own Particular History of Liberation» by Arkady Podlipsky took place in the library as part of a series of events «To the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Vitebsk Region from the Nazi Invaders».
The presentation of the book began with a summary of the Soviet Information Bureau about the liberation of Vitebsk and a video film with the chronicle of liberation. Arkady focused on the main sections of the book, describing the search for the names of a group of sappers led by Blokhin, photo chroniclers of the liberation – war photojournalists, the authors of the newsreel «Battle for Vitebsk», the materials about the liberation of Vitebsk in an English newspaper.
In the book you can find information about the soldiers, who won a great honour during the liberation of the city, about the heroes buried at the military memorial on the Assumption Hill, the participants of the partisan parade in Vitebsk in 1944, military hospitals, in one of which the mother of the poet Robert Rozhdestvensky, Vera Pavlovna, served, and many more interesting facts about the liberation of Vitebsk.
