
Free Courses «Vitebsk: Real and Popular History of the Native Town». «(Vitebsk and its inhabitants between the 10th and the 13th centuries)»

On November 10, 2016 library hosted yet another lecture from the cycle of free courses «Vitebsk: Real and Popular History of the Native Town».
The lecture encompassed the presentations prepared by Candidates of Historical Sciences Denis Yurchak, Anatoly Dulov, as well as Leading Researcher of Regional Museum of Local History Vladimir Andreichenko and members of the club of historical re-enactment «Vargentorn».
Vladimir Andreichenko told about written sources. The issue of Polotsk princes' genealogy and special aspects of power inheritance were discussed in depth. Were noticed that Polotsk princes' genealogy is quite confused and incomplete, so in some cases we can make speculates in what period and what prince rules on our heritables.
About the main political events, economics and business life of medieval Vitebsk told Denis Yurchak. Were presented topographic plans of Vitebsk, photographs from the archaeological excavation from Tatiana Bubenko archives (assistant professor of the History of Belarus at Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Maherov). The audience get an idea about streets, city buildings, the first churches of medieval Vitebsk, and about interior decoration in the house of simply citizen and the main activities.
The members of the «Vargentorn» club told about the craft activity of our ancestors, demonstrated leather shoes, devices for the treatment of materials and reconstructed weapon.
