Professional Visit of Smolensk Librarians to Vitebsk Region

On September 29 a professional visit of library workers from Smolensk region (Russian Federation) to the library network of the Ministry of Culture in Vitebsk region took place. The visit was part of the Agreement of Cooperation between the Regional Libraries of the Frontier Territories of CIS Member States.

The delegation that visited Vitebsk region included N. V. Deverilina, an expert-advisor in culture at the Department of culture and tourism in Smolensk region and the directors of centralized library systems, heads of departments and specialists of Smolensk Regional Library.

The program of professional visit included a visit to Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin and Vitebsk Central Municipal Library named after M. Gorky.

Heads of departments and library specialists participated in the round table «Cooperation of Libraries of Border Areas: Looking for Mutual Interests» where they shared their experiences on the implementation of innovative programs, publishing and social projects. Particular attention was paid to the development of libraries of Smolensk and Vitebsk regions at the present stage, as well as competitions as a form of work, contributing to the improvement of professional knowledge.
