
Opening of Art Exhibition by Vladimir Litvin «Portrait of a City»

On August 18 the art exhibition «Portrait of a City» by Vitebsk artist Vladimir Litvin, which is part of the project «Reflection» was opened at the library.
Vladimir Litvin was born in Chernihiv (Ukraine), in the family of a rural teacher. In 1966 he moved in Vitebsk. He took his studies at the graphic arts department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute named after S. M. Kirov.
The exhibition includes 52 portraits of famous people born in Vitebsk, mostly the portraits of artists. These works are part of the artist's project «Gallery of Portraits of Famous Citizens of the City of Vitebsk». The exhibition also contains information boards that reveal the meaning of the project. At the opening ceremony a lot of people took the floor – including Director of the library Tatiana Adamyan, artists Felix Gumen, Vladimir Vitko, Anatoliy Lyutsko, Yuri Zuev, Vladimir Napreenko, Alexander Slepov, Alexey Litvin and poetess Natalya Solovyova. In his speech Vladimir Lytvyn shared his suggestions on the future of modern art and what place he might take in it.
