«The Palette of Languages» Public Lecture

On May 18, 2016 the Department of International Literature set up a public lecture entitled as «The Palette of Languages». Being part of the Department's project «The Library Is the Area of Friendship», the lecture was devoted to the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

The language is the first and the most essential part of cultural diversity. That was the main concept of the event and the object of a range of presentations, songs and poems performed in 16 national languages: Belarusian, Russian, Avar, English, Latin, Italian, Danish, Spanish, Ossetic, Dargin, Kumyk, Laz, Lezghian, French, Polish and Swedish. The event attracted students from the Educational Institution «Vitebsk State Medical College», the State Educational Institutions «Gymnasium No. 2 of the town of Vitebsk» and «Gymnasium No. 9 of the town of Vitebsk», and the State Educational Institution «Secondary School No. 2 of the town of Vitebsk».

There was also the presentation of a thematic exhibition «In a Happy Language Family» and an exposition of artworks «Latin Is the Language of Healthy Lifestyle» set up by students of the Educational Institution «Vitebsk State Medical College».
