Opening of Exhibition of Tapestry «The Beginning»

On the 24th of February, the library opened the exhibition of the tapestry «The Beginning» prepared by students of the specialization «Design textile» of the speciality «Costume and fabric design» of the Department of Design of the Educational Institution «Vitebsk State Technological University». Associate Professor, member of the Public Association «Belarusian Union of Artists» Natalia Lisovskaya was the curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition is devoted to the 40th anniversary of the Department of Design, which was opened in 1975 in Vitebsk Technological Institute of Light Industry. The exhibition gathers 15 handweaving tapestries made by students A. Berdinsky, E. Buyko, V. Vishnevskaya, A. Gavinovich, M. Gritskevich, A. Zakharova, D. Konchits, O. Kovalchuk O. Kunats, A. Mateyuk, N. Melnyk, V. Platonenko, I. Saperova, A. Sycheva, N. Unukovich. The exhibition's title – «The Beginning» – is symbolic: it represents for students the beginning of a long journey in the art, the road to achievement, self-affirmation and recognition.
The opening speeches were delivered by Natalia Lisovskaya, PhD in art, assistant professor of fine arts of the Education Institution «VSU named after P. M. Masherov» Michael Cybulski, Chairman of the Vitebsk regional organization of the Public Association «Belarusian Union of Artists» Svetlana Barankovskaya, students of the Education Institution «Vitebsk State Technological University» Nadezhda Melnik and Anastasia Berdinskaya . There was musical accompaniment performed by students of the Educational Institution «Vitebsk State College of Music named after I. I. Sollertinsky» Myron Galetsky and Victoria Ermakova.
The Department of Art Literature prepared a book exhibition entitled «Tapestry: History and Modernity» which will last for a month.
